A Day In The Country

This is Jenny's most popular class!  In this two-part workshop, students not only make this striking quilt, but learn how to use half-square-triangle and quarter-square-triangle specialty rulers to their full potential.  This class is so popular because it gives students the confidence to tackle triangles and teaches a simpler way of working with triangles.  Give this class a try and start a whole new chapter in your quilting journey!

By the end of class students will:
  • Know how to cut half-square-triangles and quarter-square-triangles using specialty rulers
  • Learn tips and tricks for accurate piecing of triangles.
  • Understand how triangle based quilt blocks can be resized using half-square-triangle and quarter-square-triangle rulers.
  • Be able to look at a picture of any quilt block or quilt top that uses half-square-triangles and quarter-square-triangles and know how it is constructed without the assistance of a pattern.

Hopscotch


Hopscotch is the sort of quilt that your eye moves over again and again, seeing new things all the time.  Look carefully and you will see that it is actually made from two simple blocks with a pieced border.  The secondary design that emerges when the blocks are combined gives this quilt its excitement.  In this class you will learn techniques that will allow you piece accurately and efficiently.  We will utilize strip piecing along with half-square-triangle and quarter-square-triangle specialty rulers to whip up this charming quilt in a flash!  It is sure to become a favorite of your quilting repertoire.  (A template option is available in place of the half-square-triangle and quarter-square-triangle specialty rulers.)

By the end of class students will:
  • Learn how to cut straight, even strips of fabric
  • Understand how to construct and sub-cut strip sets
  • Know how to cut half-square-triangles and quarter-square-triangles using specialty rulers
  • Learn tips and tricks for accurate piecing of triangles
  • Discuss options for fussy-cutting images that will become focal points in the quilt

Bargello for Beginners


Bargello quilts are eye-catching and often complicated looking.  They are, in fact, easily made and can be created using simple and fun to learn techniques.   In this class you will explore process behind these stunning quilts while making a bargello style table runner using strip piecing techniques.  Be prepared to fall in love with this fun style of quilt!

By the end of class students will:
  • Learn how to cut straight and even strips
  • Know how to construct strips sets with strategies that will help minimize bowing
  • Be able to sub-cut strip sets with accuracy
  • Learn strategies to help improve piecing accuracy that will support success in this and  future projects
